  • Do you want to practice communicating your ideas clearly and effectively in an encouraging and supportive environment?
  • Do you want to improve your self confidence and be more motivated?

What is Lilydale Toastmasters?

Lilydale Toastmaster's Club is a local, award winning chapter of Toastmaster's International.  Since 1924, Toastmaster's International has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of an audience.  Our network of clubs and the learn-by-doing program are sure to help you become a better speaker and leader.  Why pay thousands of dollars for a seminar when you can join a Toastmaster’s Club for a fraction of the cost and have fun in the process?

Who is it for?

Toastmaster’s is for any person over 18 who wants to gain confidence expressing their thoughts and ideas in any situation.  Whether you are working, retired, studying, parenting, preparing for a career change, giving a special occasion speech - whoever you are and whatever your need - Toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication skills!

How does it work?

The best way to experience Toastmaster's is by attending one of our meetings as a guest and guests are always welcome!

However, to give you an idea of what to expect, a Toastmaster meeting follows a well planned agenda, where members are assigned particular Toastmaster roles.  Each role encompasses the opportunity to learn and practice valuable skills.

The first part of the meeting is devoted to practicing impromptu speaking skills and speeches of short duration, invaluable experience for day to day speaking, negotiating or interviews - times when you need to be confident listening, thinking and speaking on the spot!

In the second part of the meeting, members present prepared speeches from their Toastmaster Manual.  These assignments encourage you to research, increase your knowledge and expand your written, vocal and presentation abilities.

Each time a speaking role is performed, an evaluator is also assigned to provide feedback.  The evaluation process is the heart of the Toastmaster's program.  You will never find a more encouraging, friendly and supportive process for learning and once you realise that people want you to succeed, you will never look back!
